"Dr. Pierre Dubois ran from his past... but he brought his grim work with him."

THE STORY

Dr. Pierre Dubois, once a quiet mortician in a provincial French town, now bears a far darker legacy than tending to the dead. Rumors of illicit practices, of bodies that did not arrive lifeless and procedures that strayed far beyond the realm of the acceptable, drove the authorities to his doorstep. Before they could uncover the full truth, Dubois vanished into the night with his mistress, the cold-smiled Florence Didier at his side.

Their flight carried them across the Channel to England, where shadows cling to every alleyway and the fog seems eager to swallow secrets. There, hidden among the forgotten and the forsaken, the pair settle into obscurity. And though the French authorities search desperately for them, Dubois and Didier know the darkness well, it shelters them, welcomes them… and offers endless opportunities for their work to begin anew.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Very. The Mortician is built on low light, deep shadow and moments of near-total darkness, part of the sensory deprivation designed to unsettle you. Expect heavy strobe lighting and sudden shifts in light and temperature that mimic a real, derelict mortuary. If you’re worried about the dark, that’s rather the point, but our stewards are stationed throughout and you’re never truly alone.

Yes. The Mortician is a hands-on experience: our actors may touch you as part of the scare, so be ready for contact in the dark. You must not touch them back. Keep your hands to yourself, walk slowly, and let them do their work. Anyone who touches, pushes or lashes out at a performer may be removed from the event.

Unfortunately not. The Mortician includes tight spaces, enclosed areas and uneven, disorientating environments, so this maze isn’t wheelchair accessible.

We’d still love to welcome you to the Fear Factory, so please get in touch at [email protected] and we’ll talk you through what you can experience across the rest of the event.

Not at all. The Mortician is fully immersive, you can walk in cold and be terrified all the same. Knowing Dr. Dubois’ story just adds another layer: why he fled France, what he’s doing now, and why you may not leave the same way you entered. Read it beforehand or piece it together inside. Either way, the dread finds you.
